Johnny Mack founded the Maryland Lady Shooting Stars in 1999. He was motivated by his youngest daughter, Michelle, who was kicking off her AAU basketball journey. Johnny had a vision of creating an organization that limited the politics found all too often in youth sports and instead placed focus on guiding each athlete in preparation of what it takes to be recruited & make a difference at the collegiate/professional level. Johnny had a true passion for the game and generously put his heart and soul into creating a thriving organization that offered exposure to the highest level of competition the nation has to offer. Since inception, the Maryland Lady Shooting Stars has provided countless athletes with the tools to be successful by reaching their full potential on and off the court! Johnny Mack’s famous quote “scholarships not trophies” exhibits exactly what the Stars are all about. Johnny Mack was able to see the fruits of his unwavering dedication as his dream became a reality over the years, with countless Stars players meeting the success and aspirations he was so passionate about.
